About Dr. Nicole Dent
Professional Background
Dr. Nicole Dent, Ph.D., is a Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychologist with over ten years of experience working with adults. She provides evidence-based, goal-oriented therapy designed to help clients gain clarity, build resilience, and create meaningful change.
During her doctoral training, she provided psychotherapy to adults who had a variety of mental health concerns. This included a clinical practicum at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre working with inpatients and outpatients who had severe OCD.
Therapeutic Approach
Dr. Nicole uses an integrative approach tailored to each individual’s needs, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based strategies. She has specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (I-CBT) for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
She has extensive experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, interpersonal concerns, self-esteem difficulties, stress and anger management, and life transitions. Her style is compassionate, collaborative, and non-judgmental. Dr. Dent believes that therapy is most effective when it is a true partnership — where clients feel supported, understood, and actively engaged in working toward their goals.
Personal Background
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Nicole enjoys playing her guitar, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. She loves nature and her travels have taken her most recently to explore the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, and view the northern lights in the Yukon. She has run several marathons, and half-marathons, and continues to pursue running as a hobby.

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step.
If you’re wondering whether this is the right time to start therapy, your curiosity is enough.
